Inter-Branch TBT Committee

According to the Prime Minster's Decision No.444/2005/QD-TTg of May 26, 2005 “Approving the scheme on implementation of the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade”, one of main objectives is to set up an Inter-Branch Committee for technical Barriers to trade (called the Inter-Branch TBT Committee).

The Inter-Branch TBT Committee is tasked to adise the Ministry of Science and Technology and other state management agencies on coordinating maesures to ensure the perfoamance of obligations of the TBT Agreement in Vietnam, particularly matters related to mechanisms for implementation of the Agreement, advise on the settlement of disputes related to technical barriers to trade between member countries with vietnam and between Vietnam and other member countries.

The Inter-Branch TBT Committee is composed of:

• Its head being a representative of the leadership of the Ministry of Science and Technology;
• A deputy-head being a representative of the leadership of the Directorate for Standards and Quality (STAMEQ) ;
• A secretary being the Director of Vietnam Notification Authority and Enquiry Point (Vietnam WTO/TBT office);
• Other members being representatives at the departmental leadership level or equivalent of the ministries of Industry and Trade, Construction, Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Natural Resources and Environment, Transport, Agriculture and Rural Development, Information and Communications, Health, Justice, Finance, Science and Technology and the Government Office
